Hibernation problem - But not the usual one

#1 Post by ComputerMinder » Thu Jan 17, 2008 5:35 am

When I put my X61s r to Hibernation, the usual thing happen, first screen turns into black and then HD works a bit to save the Hibernation file and then computer turns off.

So far so good.

But when I press the power button to turn on the computer, it just boots normally to my vista. That is, there is no "Resuming..." text or anything, just a normal clean window boot. It doesn't remember the last hibernated stuff, just new windows.

I tried deleting and recreating the hibernation file as suggested in other threads but nothing solved the problem.

Any suggestion?

That's weird, is there no mention of errors in the event viewer? Something must have gone wrong with the hibernating which caused it to dump the file and boot normally.

Doesn't surprise me, there is on-going problems with Windows Vista hibernation and standby states.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't notice anything in the event viewer besides the never ending entries that I always find there. Any place in particular that I should look in that pile of garbage that the event viewer contains ?

thanks
