reconnecting to the internet after hybernation

I'm having trouble reconnecting my X61s through a d-link router via wireless at home. Two other machines connect flawlessly every time, so I'm 99% sure it's not the router or its configuration. I'm using WEP encryptation.

To go to the bottom of this issue, I started not to use Access Connections (which I loved on my A31 running XP, not the least for the ease of automatically assigning a default printer per profile). So now I'm using Vista's Network Center. So far, so good. But...

To be specific, I do get connected to the router, but not to the internet. The IP address assigned looks weird (likely an internal one), has nothing to do with the IP I get from my provider when all is well. All repair attempts in the Network Center (reset adapter, assign new IP) lead nowhere. What does help every time is a reboot, but that is not a viable solution.

Does anybody have similar problems? Any ideas appreciated (this one is driving me nuts!)

Try this:

My Computer > Right Click Properties > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Right click Properties on the network > Power Management > uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
