Virus scan getting hung up on a driver file

#1 Post by Trolle » Wed Jan 23, 2008 5:38 am

I have an X60 with Windows XP.

I am running an updated version of CA anti-virus software and when the virus scan runs it consistently gets hung up on a driver file.

The file location and type is:
C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\TP4EX\data2.cab

The laptop becomes very, very sluggish, especially when I stop the scan and attempt to close the anti-virus program. The task manager shows only about 5% CPU usage.

There is an executable in the TP4EX folder but I don't what it does and I prefer not to click on anything before I find out what it does.

Any suggestions or ideas?

TP4EX is a location for Trackpoint drivers.

You should try another AntiVirus utility to see if the problem persists.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
