Considering buying an X60 without an ultrabase or optical drive. Is there anyway I can use the optical drive in my T60 so that I can do a clean install of XP on the X60?

If the T60 and the X60 use the same chipset, then you might be able to put the X60 hard drive into the T60, install XP, and transfer the drive back to the X60. You will just have to install a few drivers.

Thanks, just picked up an X60. It happened to come with the ultrabase, so I'm all set. I'll probably sell the ultrabase+optical drive after a clean install of XP (with an optical drive and docking station for my T60, the X60 base and drive are unnecessary for my needs).
