Should I buy an x61s now or wait for more ecoupons discounts or deeper sales?

Given the fact that they are new, I would said wait for the price drop AND use the ecoupon for optimum savings.

Any idea when there would be a price drop or how much it would be?

Typically when a newer model comes out, the older model gets a price slash. The amount varies, but if you really want to save you could try purchasing used...

I'm more wondering whether ecoupons with announce a 20% off sale a few days after I buy, or some such. Buy today or wait a few days or weeks.

historically, I believe Lenovo (and IBM too?) have had decent Memorial Day holiday sales (United States). Lenovo recently had some decent sales this past fall '07 and the TP anniversary sale (Dec '07 through the first of january?). So I don't know if I'd expect anything else until the Memorial Day (MAY) timeframe. But this is just a W.A.G.. So take it with a large grain of salt!

With any luck the Montevina chipset (new fifth generation intel centrino chip set to replace Santa Rosa) replacement for the X61/X61s models may be announced round that time, so the current Santa Rosa X-series may go on sale. But, again, this is a pure W.A.G.

I'll just echo the basic advise that anyone would give you. If you need a machine now, go ahead an get one now (too made you just missed the Jan/24/2008 10% coupon). If you can afford to wait, then wait for another coupon and buy (or if you wait long enough Montevina will be out, and perhaps on sale). But it's a long time until May!

Happy hunting!
