TPM and MBR on X61

I just bought a new x61. the first thing i did was to get the recovery disc from the original hitachi hard drive and upgraded to a 160 gig hard drive from my asus laptop. i have a clean install on the seagate including wiping out the whole drive and updating the mbr from seagate disc wizard tool. everything went fine on the clean install. a week later i was able to buy a new 250 gig western digital and decided to put the seagate back to my asus laptop with a clean installation of windows. everything went fine except after a reboot it wont boot anymore and show a blank screen. i tried to use partition magic and it says no mbr. i run xp recovery and fix mbr and install new windows again and since then i never had a problem. My question is does the TPM chip writes on my MBR for security reason? somebody from this forum mentioned about clearing tpm on bios which i did not bother to clear tpm. any help would be appreciated.

If enabled, TPM writes encryption values to MBR but the problem you experienced was likely due to Asus laptop not been able to use any of thinkpads MBR's partition table schemes.
