Turn LCD screen off in vista - Tablet X61

I assigned one of the tablet button to "Turn LCD screen off", but it never does. The screen goes off for 2 seconds and goes back on, displaying the brightness meter. I think the power plan program from Vista is interfering, but I don't know how to set it straight. Please help.

I reinstall a fresh copy of Vista. Don't know if it's the problem
Any idea?

Sorry it's working for me but I've noticed when you press it quickly it does exactly what you mentioned in your 1st post so my suggestion is be gentle with it.
