x60 tablet not recogniizing DDR2 so-DIMM

#1 Post by alexander_s » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:07 pm

I have just bought a x60 tablet p/n 6364CC3 from the lenovo outlet, configured with 1 stick of 1GB RAM and added a 2nd stick of 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM which is made by Transcend and stated to be compatible. On powerup, my system only recognizes 2GB rather than 3GB of RAM... advice?

Possible solutions:

1. Update your BIOS to the latest version.

2. Swap the memory positions between slots.

3. Return the memory and get a replacemet or buy from another manufacturer like Crucial.

4. Rare for a new machine but one of the slots could be defective. IBM warranty service would deal with this scenario.

My bad, problem resolved

I did a quick check using PC Wizard 2008 and it read only 2G (rather than 3)... I re-booted the PC and checked the BIOS, which read 3GB properly as did 'my computer' on Win XP. PC Wizard still insists that there are only 2GB of RAM - go figure. Thanks for the helpful trouble-shoot though.
