XP DOWNGRADE DISK WITH VISTA BUSINESS

#1 Post by CanadianNorth » Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:02 am

Can someone tell me if X6x thinkpads, with vista business, are currently shipping with XP disks?

Can I assume it's possible to install dual operating systems this way?

So far as I know, the downgrade is to replace Vista. You are not licensed to run both at the same time. ... JDH

The Lenovo Canada rep I spoke with yesterday (in reply to my question mirroring yours) told me that XP downgrade disks no longer ship with any system ordered via Lenovo Canada (either ordered with Vista Business (64) or Vista Ultimate) and the only way to get the downgrade would be to order the CDs from Lenovo for a $45 charge (+ shipping).

Dunno if that's trustworthy or not... but...

... and no - you wouldn't be able to dual-boot by installing two sets of recovery disks. One would simply overwrite the other. If you want to dual boot, you'll need a full licensed copy of either to install it side-by-side with the OS you have on your machine.
