New X61s - Black Screen Flash After Windows log on

Just received my X61s from Lenovo Outlet. It is loaded with XP professional. I've got a black screen flash, or the so-called "blinking black" screen problem each time when I log onto Windows. When the desktop screen shows and initial programs are still loading screen goes black for 1/2 second. I followed some tips by disabling igfxtray and igfxpers from startup and the problem is now solved. But I am still a little nerved about this problem, since it is a brand new system. Anybody got similar experiences?

That's just the presentation manager autodetecting to see if you have any external monitors attached. Disabling those startup items prevents presentation manager from autodetecting, but if you do run with a external monitor or projector attached you'll have to manually enable it from the display settings.
