Help needed with Display please

#1 Post by RupertKW » Mon Mar 03, 2008 5:58 pm

Hi
I have a problem here, I can't believe I am the first or last.
I have a X61s running XP Pro (no not VISTA I want to do some work).
My display went out and would not restart without a re-boot (hard).
When my machine came back it had dropped to 640 x 480 and 4 bit colour. I tried re-installing drivers, no difference.
So then I tried uninstalling them - and got a 1024 x 768 (I think) but no drivers, so no directX or brightness controls etc.
I have tried re-installing drivers, from Lenovo, from Intel, each time 640 x 480, 4 bit and I cant change anything !
Delete drivers - 1024 x 768 looks ok but it wants to instal new hardware each time I start (display drivers - not surprisingly) :x

Can anyone tell me what display drivers I should be using.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

The following one:

Display driver (Intel 940GML, 945GM, GL960, GM965 - 950, X3100) for Windows XP, 2000 - ThinkPad.

Read the installation instructions very carefully, most users forget to install actual pacakage after unpacking it at the default location of C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY, so please do so to run the second setup with .exe extension.
