Ok, kind of emabarrased to ask this but I CANNOT figure this out. When left alone, my x61 shuts off. Never happens when using it. First thought is the power settings. All is set that when plugged in, to not turn off. Went through all those settings to ensure.

Is there another place for settings such as this? Please help! Thank you!

Check your settings under both the Vista or XP power settings, as well as the ThinkVantage Power Manager (Start --> ThinkVantage --> Power Manager; double click the green power meter in your system tray; or Fn + F3). By default the Power Manager software handles power settings rather than the native Windows software, so perhaps this might be the problem? Very strange otherwise... check your BIOS as well.

I noticed something in the bios that shut the cpu down (timer). I turned that off. It seemed to work at first but now does the same thing again even though the bios is changed. The wierd thing is, when it worked (stayed on), I got a different screen saver (windows) then what I normally get and is assigned in windows. Now I get the old screen saver that is assigned in windows and it shuts down.

I can't figure this out. I ran a scan for viruses too but found nothing. I don't think that's it either though because it is around the same time when left alone.

Any other areas to look at would be appreciated. Thank you!
