Up Ram for X60

#1 Post by Paul88 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:01 am

Hi there,

I was wondering whether is there any big different between up ram from 512 to 1.5 GB vs 2.5GB for X60 win XP? I plan to add another slot of either 1 GB or 2 GB of ram on X60 with current ram of 512. Price for 1 GB is $15 and 2GB is $35. Please enlight me.

Thank you,

Paul

In my opinion there is a large difference between 512mb and 1.5gb and not so large between 1.5gb and 2.5gb. At these prices you may as well max out at the 3gb that your ThinkPad can use. Or even go crazy and fit 2 X 2gb chips. Even though your OS will only recognize 3gb of the 4gb you can then say I am done with memory...for now.

Thanks Brad, how about if I go with 2x1GB to make it up to totally
2GB and sell the 512. Is that better idea than buy one 2GB stick to push it up to 2.5 GB?

Thanks,

Paul

i got 3gb of ram on my x60 with windows xp. Using one of Windows vista side gadgets to monitor ram and cpu speed. I have only seen my ram usage to 1.8gb. I would get 3gb just in class for future apps.

I would buy the 2 + 1, for a total of 3gb. Im not sure if you will get any money for the 512mb but you can try.

I think it would probably be better to get one 2GB stick in stead of
2x1 GB. Thanks.
