sorry... didn't see this post.

the per-app limit is still 2GB in any flavor of 32-bit windows so it depends on your needs.

windows server 2008 standard

#32 Post by coldfire » Mon Oct 13, 2008 9:28 pm

installed windows server 2008 standard edition on x61 tablet
Things not working here:
1. All tablet buttons
2. tablet input panel
3. WLAN LED remains off (WLAN working ok)
4. lenovo system update will not run (an error occurred while gathering user information)
5. lenovo client security solution 8.2 will not install (is not supported on current operating system)

other things seem to be working ok

solution for css 8.2

#33 Post by coldfire » Tue Oct 14, 2008 11:52 am

just worked out a solution for css 8.2 installation
1. download appEditor (for editing msi file)
2. open css 8.2 msi package
3. search "is not supported"
4. one of the search results is a CONDITION:
(((VersionNT=501 AND ServicePackLevel>=1)OR (VersionNT=600)) AND NOT WINSERVER AND Not VersionNT64) OR Installed
5. remove the "NOT WINSERVER" and save the package
6. install the package and everything should work just fine.

1 and 2: these don't work and you'll never get them to work.   the tablet button driver and TIP aren't supported under 2008.

3: which wifi card do you have?   i know first-hand that intel 3945 and 4965 cards will light up the indicator LED on an X61T under 2008.

4: system update worked fine for me on my tablet (both under 2008 x86 enterprise and x64 enterprise) so i don't know why yours isn't.   perhaps the server is down.   or, perhaps standard edition isn't compatible where enterprise works.   i've never used 2008 standard.

the wlan card is from Atheros.
system update showed a message "an error occurred while gathering user information", so I assume this is due to my system.

atheros cards are noted for incompatibility/inconsistency with server 2003/2008.   be glad it works under 2008 -- most of them don't work whatsoever under 2003.

TVSU might not be compatible with 2008 standard.   it definitely works under enterprise.

for those that have 2003 installed, is the presentation director working? if yes, how did you get it to work. I had to install the video drivers manually and looks like that is what's causing the presentation director not to work in 2003 server.

wlan led is working now

#38 Post by coldfire » Wed Oct 22, 2008 12:35 am

the wlan led is working after I installed the driver from lenovo.
originally I just use the driver comes with win 2008 server, the wlan can work, but the led does not function.
now if the tablet functions are supported then it would be perfect ...
