Can you set your Power Settings so CPU Fan doesn't run?

X60/X61 series specific matters only.

Can you set your Power Settings so CPU Fan doesn't run?

For Vista:
If possible, what did you changed? What is lowest and highest % you set Processor Power Management for battery\power and also do you enabled USB Settings to conserve power?

I'm getting 2 hr 15minutes on slim 4cell battery. But I would like some silence if possible.
Feb 2008=Thinkpad X61s; 2x faster than X40 but not as asthetic.
Dec 2005=Thinkpad X40; perfect, but bigger than 240x.
Jan 2005=Thinkpad 240x; used; fast but dead pixels doomed it.
2003=Thinkpad 240; used,
1998=new Toshiba Tecra 740CDT. Pricey, heavy & last 5 year.

I wish I can do that too, and be safe from heat.

My cpu fan has become making kind of anoying noise from 9 month use. Fan doesn't run that fast, but often makes kind of like a low tone grinding noise.

Anyone know if the system fans are customer replacable? Probably not, right? When I had a Dell, I always replaced everything (MB, LCD, BT, fan) myself by convincing the rep. on the phone that I know how do replace it.

I will be also happy to know if it's possible to set the power management of the X61s to avoid the fan :D
Proud and happy X31 owner. In quest of the successor, X61s?!
