I went in Abu Dhabi, UAE to a Lenovo Dealer. I previously made a query on the Lenovo website for a ThinkPad X61s/1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo (Low Voltage)/4GB RAM/160 GB 5400 RPM/Vista Business 64/X6 Ultrabase Docking Station/DVD Multiburner all of these items together would cost below 2200 $.
Then I came to the Lenovo Dealer in UAE, and they were offering a ThinkPad X61s/1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo (Low Voltage)/2 GB RAM/160 GB 5400 RPM/ for 2000 $.
So I asked more about the computer, they told me that the operating system which is Vista Business 32 comes preloaded with the computer without any Recovery DVD. So if I want to format my computer later I will have to buy a new Vista copy, also if I want to upgrade the computer to 4 GB RAM, the price will increase by 400 $ !!!!!
So I guess they are cheating? What can I do in this situation?

Thanks in Advance...

Lenovo ships the computers without Vista recovery discs. When you get the computer, there is a utility installed that allows you to burn recovery discs that will take the computer back to factory configuration. You will need a DVD burner and some blank discs, but that is all.

You should buy and upgrade the RAM yourself to save money. It is not a difficult process. Bear in mind that Vista 32-bit will only be able to use up to 3gb of RAM; if you want to use 4gb, you will need Vista 64-bit.

like mentioned, you may also contact support afterwards to purchase the recovery discs yourself which is possible.

memory is cheap, so i ought you may want to buy that package and get 2 sticks of 2GB each (so you have 4GB) which should be a bit under $100

I'll never understand why uninformed people start threads with sensational headlines for effect. What proof do you have that the dealer is cheating and why is this a Lenovo or an X series issue?

That is not true. Make a back-up copy as others have stated. Just because the dealer is as uninformed as you are it does not make him a cheat.
