X60 - Improve Dull Screen

Hi,

I've got an X60 (1709CTO), which I love, having had vaios and toshibas previously. My only issue is the screen brightness. It is really quite dull, even with the brightness maximized.

Is there anything I can do? Is it possible to optimize contrast etc. with any software tools?

The screen brightness of all thinkpads (except x300) pale in comparison to vaios (which typically have 300nit brightness). There is an x61s configuration on here that is supposed to increase the colors for that specific screen, but a lot of people are showing richer colors on a variety of x6x machines.

There is a setting in BIOS which you could change in Config > Display > Brightness, try changing that from normal to high.

It's quite possible the thinkpad you've was built lets say 2 years ago and has lost it's screen charm through passage of time.

Another reason can be the displays you're comparing it with have higher luminous.

There's a member here who will re-do your screen electronics. Look for "I will fix your screen" or something similar. His name is James. Reasonable and prompt. I was satisfied with how he perked up my old R50p screen a few weeks ago.

Edit: here is his email address: james@famteam.com

He is a reputable member in St. Louis, Mo.

I'm sure James is very capable person but you've to consider this fact too that the OP is from Ireland.
