x61s Sierra Wireless MC8775 Vista 64 Problems

#1 Post by nmiller84 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:54 pm

Hello,

I am running Vista Business 64-bit version, with the Sierra Wireless MC8775 HSDPA WWAN card. I was curious if anyone else has experienced the connection locking up, then rebooting only to find that the WWAN card is unable to be initialized. The only way I have found the card to become useable again was to power-cycle the system.

The card worked fine under Windows XP, so I know the hardware works fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried talking to Lenovo, but they wouldnt let me past the first level of support, so it was like talking to a brick wall.

My feeling is bum drivers that at some point corrupts the card, needing a power cycle to flush the card.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

Oh yeah, and I have tried reinstalling the OS, currently the only thing loaded is intel chipset drivers, video drivers, WLAN drivers and Sierra. Also tried using Sierra's 3G watcher program...no better.

Go to Device Manager and disable power management option of allowing the computer to turn off the device (WWAN) to save power.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
