I read the story, interesting indeed. But I'd rather prefer the old logo, its prettier. Moreover IBM was the creater of this kind of machine, so Lenovo must always appreciate the IBM company which created a piece of art like the X series and the T series. So IBM logo must be always included.

A problem that might come up there is the legal issue of whether IBM (or any company for that matter) would be willing to let its trademark/logo be displayed on a product that it no longer has rights or substantive control over. IBM at most only handles warranties for select ThinkPads now after its PC division got acquired... do I understand this correctly?

If you want, you can buy the logos from ebay to replace the ones on your laptop. They're basically stickers.
-T42p 2374-D03 with Pentium M 765 2.1GHz, 1.5GB RAM, 7k60 HDD, IBM 802.11 a/b/g II wireless, 6-cell battery, and no touchpad
-X61 Tablet 7764-CTO with 3GB RAM and 7k200 HDD
-W500 4061-CTO all stock

If the product is still based on IBM technology, then the old logo must be Included. If Lenovo altered the product's technology, then it has the right to put whatever she wants to put. But keep in mind something, from my point of view no company now or in the near future could outstand the IBM technology, those guys put their best efforts in creating reliable products.

You cant' believe this:
- I own a classic IBM laptop called ThinkPad 380ED. This computer has an Intel Pentium M processor 166 MHz / 80 MB RAM / 4 GB HDD / Infrared Port / 2 PCMCIA Slots / etc...
This machine is designed to run Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation 4.0, today I tried to install windows xp on it, and believe it or not, the windows was installed and it was not that bad. It worked fast enough.

Lenovo has bought IBM PCD (including all so-called technologies) and according to IBM, thinkpad and other PC products are no longer their products anymore:
IBM wrote:"ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops and other PC products are now products of Lenovo".
Although IBM is still the service provider for all lenovo products.

IMO, a new owner would do what a new owner wants...

Many things in the following Q's &A's have changed but it definitely would answer your questions:

IBM and Lenovo — Q&A for customers.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

After I read the IBM & Lenovo Questions & Answers, I think I'm fully satisfied since the team which is working on developing Lenovo ThinkPads is the same old team which was developing IBM ThinkPads. But still I think they must work on the ThinkPad new logo, it must be prettier.

Nothing beats the old IBM logo IMO. The new sticker is just plain ugly and proves that the guy who designs it lacks common sense. The X or T series designation in the new sticker blends into the black color and hard to see unless you look them up close.

I bought the sticker from ebay to replace that ugly sticker and couldn't be happier.

I prefer the new sleek looking logo over the mid 80s era IBM Commodore rainbow looking logo, lol.

Lenovo product, Lenovo sticker. I'm proud that the Thinkpad has its roots deep in quality, and I believe that Lenovo is making the product even better. I can't wait to see what kinds of offerings Lenovo will make in the future.

As for the sticker, I agree that it could be nicer. I would appreciate it being a little more flashy, but not too flashy to draw so much attention. Something in raised silver with a red dot on the"i" in Thinkpad seems appropriate - and a small Lenovo logo below it, instead of the "T-series" text.
