Do I really need the Ground Line for the adapter?

X60/X61 series specific matters only.

Do I really need the Ground Line for the adapter?

#1 Post by ribbonfish » Tue Apr 01, 2008 3:53 am

My X30 did NOT even have it, and it worked well I never got shocked.

Now the 3-horn x60t AC cord has a ground line, my question is that: do I really need it?

If I get rid of it, does it affect any thing?

Thanks!

Well,

the legally correct answer is: some countries require by law a ground line, so, three horn power cord and power supply unit, because some parts of the notebook are metallic and therefore the notebook housing is not completely insulated.

HOWEVER,

for world travelers, this is a nightmare... therefore

I personally use since many years with no issue whatsoever a 2 wire power supply, which can be easily adaptered ;) to power outlets around the world.

in case of an issue, it's your own decision.

my two cents
Gerd
