Replace Internal WWAN / Sierra card

I'm having an issue with my internal Sierra Wireless card on my x60s (1704-69u).

Basically, it will only connect on the 1xRTT network. VZW has confirmed this apparently by checking network logs. I've refreshed the VZW manager software and updated my roaming list via activation to no avail.

I fear my card may be having issues. Does anyone know if this is replaceable? I've read about some folks removing theirs for one reason or another, so I'm assuming it's user serviceable.

If anyone knows where I could get a new one, I'd love a pointer in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

The WWAN card is CRU (Customer Replaceable Unit), you can order replacement card from IBM parts.

I assume your thinkpad is out of warranty, if not then replacement would be free from IBM support.

Yepp, I'm out of warranty by almost a year. I bought it as soon as it was available. =) She's been an absolute delight!

Any idea how I can find the number support will need to let me know if I'll need to sell both kidneys or just the one? =)

Thanks,
Bill

You can reach IBM parts at: 1-800-388-7080.

Also, you'll find the FRU part number written on the card or else from the following document: (look for your product type)

System service parts - ThinkPad X60, X60s, X61, X61s.
