Any downside to X60 vs. X61 (not tablet)

#1 Post by kennyschiff » Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:55 am

I own an X61 and am very happy with it. I need to buy another machine for a new employee and am trying to buy new/refurb off of ebay or outlet. There are some good deals on the X60. Is there any downside of the X60?

for X60
plus: a teeny bit more battery life (for original Core Duo only?)
minus: 3gb ram limit (X61 does 4GB and maybe 8 )

Besides C2D, not much difference.

I think the x61 comes with the x3100 graphics vs the intel 915gm .

aaa-

Why would you say the X60 has a 3GB limit and the X61 4GB (maybe 8GB)? Wouldn't the limit be an XP (32 bit) issue? From what I've read you can slap 2 - 2GB sticks in an X60 but XP only sees like 3.2 or so.

its a well discussed topic but the outcome is the same...the 60 series tps w/ their intel chipsets only support 3GB; the 61 series support 4GB+.
