Wihout AC power, the blue screen apprears before logging to Windows XP. So I have no way to start Windows XP.

With AC adapter, I can start Windows XP. But " Logmon.exe" Application error appears before logging to XP. After logging to XP, I got "br_funcs.exe" application error.

I don't have wireless even reinstalling wireless driver. When clicking Enabling for wireless network, the blue screen appears and so computer shut down and reboot.

Please help me solve this problem. This is brand new tablet. But I can not use it now.

Thanks truly.

You could try a factory restore during boot up. If that doesn't work, call Lenovo Tech Support. If it's brand new, it's DOA and they should replace it as quickly as they can repair it.

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that my laptop is company owned. And the system has been configured by IT such that system can access corporation network domain at the office. I am afraid that factory restoring will lose all corporation network information. Is it right?

BTW, how can I try a factory restore ?

Thanks.

On br_funcs.exe:

"Br_funcs.exe is a component of Rescue and Recovery. When the backup process runs, br_funcs.exe will be listed in the process list and will use a considerable portion of the processor. A backup will start without user intervention if regular backups have been scheduled by an administrator. Rescue and Recovery 3 schedules weekly backups by default."

If it is a new computer, then your corporate administrator may have configured the machine to do a Rescue & Recovery backup immediately upon first-boot, except to store the files in a networked corporate location. If that is the case, and there is a secondary network problem, or if you are not connected to the corporate network, it may crash the computer. The second case is especially likely if you need to first log in through some virtual-private-networking (VPN) client in order order to access the corporate network.

Some thoughts:

1) On a separate computer, download the latest version of ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery from Lenovo, and use a USB flash drive or other to transfer and install it on your tablet. Once installed, manually see if there are backups scheduled, and disable them.

2) Company owned laptops should be serviced by the corporate IT folks. Contact them for assistance, mentioning your error messages.

3) To do a factory restore press the blue ThinkVantage button during boot-up (don't do this before contacting your IT department though).

4) Corporate network domain access usually isn't that hard to configure, it's just a matter of installing and setting up VPN or a similar client based software package. Again, check your IT department first rather than Lenovo; companies often perform custom images.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your help.

One more question, why blue screen appears after enabling Wireless? I reinstalled the wireless driver. But I still can not see wireless LAN when I press Fn+F5. I can only see Wireless WAN.

Thanks a lot.

Wireless crashes can be caused by any number of problems, ranging from a faulty wireless adapter, to conflicts between ThinkVantage Access Connections and Windows network management, to firewall and router settings.

As a starting point try disabling or uninstalling ThinkVantage Access Connections.

If that doesn't work, GomJabbar has posted an excellent summary of relevant links. I believe some may pertain to your situation, although I haven't really looked at any of them in depth.

BTW, welcome to the forum! :)

Hi Hart22

I can not install rescue and recovery. The errors are as follows

" The application failed to initialize properly." "error installing SMi device driver"

Aslo, I can not remove it, either.

And why blue screen appears when starting system without AC adapter? And there is also " logmon.exe application error " before logging to windows?

Thanks.

Logmon.exe is also a component of Rescue and Recovery. Perhaps you should try ending the logmon.exe process when Windows loads, and then applying the R&R upgrade.

Your corporate administrator also may not have given your user account full administrative controls, hence preventing you from installing/uninstalling some system software.

For the blue screen on battery power, try the following:

Hit F1 on boot-up to access the BIOS. Go Config --> Power.
Under "Intel (R) SpeedStep technology" and also "Adaptive Thermal Management" change the settings listed for "Battery" to a different setting. I'm fairly certain that if you changed the settings to match those for AC mode, it should eliminate the problem, at the cost of battery life. So try some of the other settings; I personally have the former set at "Maximum battery", and the latter at "Balanced".

However, given the problems you're describing, especially as regards the blue screen on battery, I believe your problems are sufficient grounds for a machine replacement, or at least some extended warranty work. You should not have to go through this much hassle just to get a new computer to work. Either that or your corporate custom image was improperly configured.
