creating recovery disks over network drive

hello all,

I want to make recovery disks for my new x61s.

I do not have an external usb dvd-rw drive, but my desktop has an internal dvd-rw drive. perfect, I thought - I will just make the disks by mounting the desktop drive on by x61s and burn the disks over the network.

no such luck.

the network drive (even when mounted on the x61s) does not seem to be recognized by the recovery media program (in vista).

can this be done over network? I would rather not purchase an external drive just for this purpose.

thanks!
