My bluetooth is not showing when I press (Fn + F5) although I installed all the software and drivers concerning the bluetooth.

My X60 has also developed this symptom since a while back. Sometimes I have got it to work for a while, by first booting into Rescue & Recovery. But after a few suspend/resume windows might report that it failed to load drivers for an unknown usb-device (obviously my bluetooth hw) and eventually the bluetooth hw does not show up anywhere, not even in the device manager.

It seems to be a hardware failure, but sending the laptop off to service is really not an option. I'm considering buying an external BT-dongle instead. But it would be interesting to know if there is another way to fix it.

I just realized; does your bluetooth actually work, eventhough it does not show up when pressing Fn-F5? Because mine does not...

Yes the wireless and bluetooth switch is turned on, but maybe I didn't installed the required software, please give me a list of software and drivers needed to turn on or off the bluetooth in order for vista to recognize it. Before my last format it was working but I turned it off for battery consumption issues and after that I formatted my computer and now windows is unable to find bluetooth because it is turned off, I must turn it on first but it won't show up in the Fn + F5. Only WI FI shows up.

Is it enabled in BIOS and does bluetooth (or some unknown device) show up in device manager?

Hooray!! It worked, the unknown device appeared to be ThinkPad PM, after windows recognized it, bluetooth appeared in the Fn + F5 menu.

I hope next time you don't dump lenovo applications thinking them nothing more than "bloatware".
