X60s screen brightness

I've had my X60s for a almost year now and am still very happy with it. My only disappointment is the screen brightness. I feel it should be brighter, especially when on battery power. It's virtually impossible to work outside or near a very bright sunny window even with the brightness on full.
My colleagues Viao completely trounces the x60s in the screen department - he can work in full sun light! It really annoys me when he gloats about it.
Are there any screen upgrades or different screens available for the X60 that I could retrofit?
Hopefully Lenovo has addressed this and is supplying their new ranges with better and brighter screens.

There are no brighter LCDs that you can retrofit.
Is your LCD set to full brightness when running on battery, this is a BIOS setting?

For the X60s, there is a BIOS setting for display brightness when on battery power. You can have the display as bright when on battery power, as it is when plugged in. The brighter display setting of course is achieved at higher energy consumption.
As the BIOS files for X60 and X60s are the same, I am assuming that the X60 BIOS has the same options for display brightness, as the X60s has.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot about checking the bios setting for brightness.
I think the main problem is with the screen design and construction. It should reflect more of the ambient light so it doesn't wash out the screen. I noticed that the Viao has a very deep black reflective screen when turned off compared to the X60s. I guess that is what makes it's screen viewable in sunlight.

When your friend starts gloating about his laptop and how he can work in direct sunlight, I'm sure you can find other things to gloat about.
For instance, your laptop has a trackpoint, while he is stuck using the crappy touchpad. Also, I'm pretty sure that his keyboard layout is all [censored] as well.

LOL, oh I do gloat about everything else being superior on the X60s. The embarrassing thing is that last week we were in an airport lounge and the low sun was streaming in where we were sitting and I had to get up and move away completely to continue working while he just sat there laughing and ragging how the mighty Thinkpad couldn't even cope with a bright room.
You do have to admit that as good as the TP is the screen does let it down in that department.

I think you can buy screen protectors that are reflective. I'm not sure if it improves the image.
