I bought the Samsung SSD 64 GB for my x61s.
There is "only' SATA-1 read=60 MB/s and write=40MB/s but I paid only about 1000 Polish zloty = about 285 Euro or 454$. Before I used Samsung 160 GB 5400 RPM HDD

I don't use any benchmarks but my few observations are:
- increase battery time - with slim 4cell battery about 3 hours with the SSD dics (office work with wifi)
- decrease system temperature - now I have about 43-46 Celsius degrees (CPU) and the fan is OFF !!!!
- silence SILENCE, total SILENCE
- very fast boot system - about 8-10 seconds for Windows XP, after optimize boot system about 5 seconds
- laptop is much colder than with normal Samsung hdd
- applications turn on much faster and I don't have system freezing during e.g. copy bigger files or many small files

Now my x61s is perfect for me - for next one or two months ;)

Thanks for the feedback, good to know first hand of the improvements.
I wouldn't mind trying to drop an SSD into my tablet when the prices come down a little more.

I currently have the 160 GB 5400 RPM Hitachi in my X61 Tablet. I've been debating whether to upgrade to a larger hard drive or hold off until a fast, inexpensive 256GB+ SSD becomes available (switching to a lower-capacity drive would be unthinkable ).

My next upgrade could be an SSD if current trends in price, performance and capacity continue.
