Lenovo using taskbar for advertising

There is a small triangular black icon with an exclamation mark next to my power manager battery indicator. It's telling me to double click to see options for replacing my battery to increase battery life by 0.5hrs.

Clicking on the link tries to take me to a Lenovo server, but gives a server error.

I can't find any settings to get rid of the message.I have tried every option. Someone suggested waiting a few weeks for it to go away. Nothing will make the icon go away.

THIS IS EXTREMELY INVASIVE. Surely I have some rights against Lenovo for using my taskbar as an advertising billboard for new batteries.

Have you tried disabling "Periodically show messages about battery charge capacity?" It's under the "Options" button on the bottom of the Power Manager screen.

I'm not sure if those "advertising" messages are covered under that or not; I've never gotten one.

Why do you think it's your task bar? Surely you read Paragraph 1.3.5(c).h.26(d) on page 167 of the EULA, down at the bottom in 2 point text where you agree that in return for being allowed to use the taskbar for free you will be provided with beneficial notices to make your user experience more satisfying.

Wait till it starts showing third party ads based on the content of that email you are writing. Then you will really be being provided a satisfying user experience.

I often wondered why the EULAs are so long and difficult to read. Its so we don't get to the stuff that matters.

I might go and get some counseling to help stop me looking at the icon
