Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
hey,
i did upgrade the firmware to MC8775_H2.0.8.19.cwe
and the driver to Sierra Wireless Generic+Lenovo v2.1.6.0
i am in the philippines right now - connected to smart - buddy - and bro simcards.
however - the connection seems to hang after some minutes - i allways have to reconnect -
wireless watcher would say connected but i would not be able to recieve data anymore.
the data counter would only show outgoing traffic - the number for incoming data is frozen -
what can i do ?
is there another firmware - older one - i could try?
or another driver?
are there settings in windows i could optimize?
thanks for the help!

As per forum member: cyn quoted in a previous posting, it would seem that after upgrading your MC8775 with firmware 2_0_8_19 - Downgrade NOT Supported CAUTION:cordroosen wrote:however i cant flash the firmware to the older version -
Try using the new Sierra Wireless Watcher software - R3.1.0.14.2062 which may have an updated driver to see if things improve.

Hi,
I've got the same problem with Telstra (850Mhz) with the latest firmware (the cisco one).
When you do an AT!BANK=? the 850mhz band isn't listed.
Does anyone know (or have) a copy of the latest firmware that works with 850mhz?
Thanks
Chris.

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi,
I can't upgrade my fimware:
firmware H1_1_9_22MCAP
bootloader H1_1_9_0MCBT
to
firmware MC8775_H2.0.8.19
bootloader MC8775QCOM_H2.0.8.0
with binupdater 1.5.0.2
It shows this exact dialogue when I try load MC8775_H2.0.8.19.cwe with binupdater: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27503781@N ... 6074/show/
Am I doing something wrong? Do I lose some functionalities when updating the firmware? I'm just asking if it's not reversible. MC8775 is working well enough with the current firmware..

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi shapesh1ft!
I also had the same problem like you. I tried hours and hours to flash firmware version H2_0_7_1BMCAP to my HP-branded MC8775 (designated Hs2300 by HP) and I always got the same error message: "Download failed - Bootloader not compatible with target".
The solution was very simple: I just had to use the binupdater, which cyn linked earlier in this thread (http://ifile.it/23bpl07) and the H2_0_8_19BMCAP firmware also linked by him (http://ifile.it/ex3rl8t). Now my card suppots 7.2 MBit/s (allthough I will likely never see this speed due to insufficient capacity on the serving NodeB).
Note that you always need to update the boot sector (which is the smaller file amount to ~200 KB) first and afterwards the larger file containing the firmware.
regards,
fitzcarraldo

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hey Guys.
For those who are having issues with UTMS850, the following firmware is for Telstra equipment might work better for you. Using this, nextg appears in network search (Telstra Mobile, 50501) but I don't have a nextg sim to test with.
Apart from that it works well with Vodafone.
Firmware (H2.0-Release4-MC8775-H2_0_8_1BT_H2_0_8_19AP)
http://ifile.it/n62cspa
Latest version of Sierra Watcher (build 2258)
http://ifile.it/ti3rs7o
Hope this helps

Well I am posting this from out bush and using nextG (3g @ 850mhz) and it's working a treat using the 2.0.8 firmware I posted.

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi,
i've allready read that the Lenovo branding won't vanish (subsystem id remains untouched), but will the card work with Access connections instead of sierra watcher?
I would like to use the sierra tool only for flashing and connect via Access Connections.
kind regards

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi,
whatever I do, I can't upgrade the firmware.
Could someone post a detailed step-by-step howto? Is the generic Sierra driver mandatory? If yes, which version is the prefered one?
EDIT: After a lot of tries (really 60-80 times), the update was successful.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Whoopie

As the bootloader version shown under the AT!BCINF section of your script is H2_0_8_1MCBT (which is correct for the firmware application: H2_0_8_19MCAP) I would say YES the bootloader has been updated/upgraded -dileks wrote:Did I only upgrade the firmware and not the bootloader (see UDDL section)?

One question:
Unfortunately, I can't test UMTS (3G) w/o SIMcard, but switching fron WinXP to Linux, lets the external WLAN/WWAN-LED on my notebook blink.
Seems to me it is only blinking when there is Internet traffic on WLAN.
Is this due to firmware-upgrade (new feature)?
Any ideas?

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi, I need some help.
I own a X61 and yesterday arrived my MC8775 (hs2300 HP branded) from eBay.
After a while looking for drivers I got it working, stock firmware 1.1.9.22 and watcher 3.1.0.34 release 2258.
My carrier in Brazil is CLARO and its 3G frequency is 2100MHz.
But just like a child with new toys after Xmas eve, I decided to update it from 3.6Mbps to 7.2Mbs...
I Installed firm 2.0.8.19.... since then, just troubles....
The card doesn't find my carrier anymore. It keepd searching... I tryed another SIM card from another carrier (TIM) that works on 850MHZ .... perfect, full signal.
Checking in watcher options, network, are available only 850/1900MHz for 3G .... Where is the 2100 option? I hadn't check if the option was there before, but it was working!!!!
any idea to make it run on 2100MHz again??
Rgds,
Rodrigo

I've tryed with another SIM Card from other carrier that works on 2100MHz also.
the same problem .... It does not connect.
In the image below... Isn't it supposed to be available 2100MHz network?

the same problem .... It does not connect.
In the image below... Isn't it supposed to be available 2100MHz network?

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
I really don't understand.... the card fixed itself.
Yestarday during the hole day it didn't find any 2100MHz network.
yesterday night, it simply found the network and connected....
but then it wasn't browsing....
Ping, Tracert and telnet (all in CMD) were working perfctly .... windows recognized as been connected to the internet.... but IE, FF, Mail, MSN.... nothing ... no connection.
I reinstaled, checked proxy, everything was OK, but no browsing.
today morning, I tryed again and everything was simply fine .... I'm browsing throug it now.
I hope it doesn't take track back, hehehehehe
ahh.. it's ok on 7.2Mbps!!

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Has anyone had similiar problems? I'm using Sonera here in Finland with my MC8755 WWAN -card. It only seems to get 10Kt/s at best. Sometimes even 1kt/s (1000b/s). I tested the modem with a Elisa card, which worked fine on the limit that the Elisa card has, which is 384Kbps or 45kt/s.
I also tested Sonera with Bluetooth tethering. And seemed to get the max from my EDGE phone, which would be about 22kt/s. But with Sonera and MC8755 I won't be able to reach even the 22kt/s. No changing to EDGE on the WWAN has worked. And yes, the card has been unlocked recently.

Testing with Speedtest.net takes forever, but let the results speak for themself.

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
I'd like to use a MC8775 with an updated Firmware in a X60.
Used the search function and read this entire thread to find out, that I might also need a modified BIOS. Would some kind soul please send me a link the modded BIOS?
TIA.
