Restart problem X61 tablet

#1 Post by christy123 » Mon May 05, 2008 11:36 pm

I just bought a refurbished x61 tablet off lenovo site. I have noted that when i try restart the system, it goes into some sort of hibernation mode ..i have to turn off the system manually and then turn it on. It has windows xp on it.

anyone has any idea what is going on

thanks

are you turning it off with the physical power button, or are you turning it off through the start menu. the physical power button is oftentimes mapped to hibernate or sleep.

the software one can be mapped to these too, but i dont think that that was the case by default in xp, could be wrong.

I restart it through "start" menu...it shuts down ....doesnt turn on. i hit keys..nothing happens....

then i hit the power button, it turns off and then i hit power button again to restart it....

i have used xp since 2000....not really a novice as far as xp goes but have never used ibm notebook before

I suggest trying a live Linux CD to confirm if it is a hardware or software problem.

If you have an optical drive that is.

This maybe over the top but I would try a system recovery to a different hard drive with a complete new operating system. Again to confirm if it is hardware or software.
