No, this is a previously reported issue. Vista 64 seems to disable the Wifi indicator on all X6x series. Otherwise things works fine (great).

Well I don't know what "UM" stands for, but the wifi indicator is working fine on my X61T running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Never had any problems with it since I installed 64-bit... (sorry if I misread the OP's question and am posting something irrelevant).

the wifi indicator works perfectly fine on my X61 under vista 64. it's possible that not "all X6x" are affected.

i've done clean installations of vista ultimate 64-bit w/ and w/o SP1, vista business 32-bit w/ and w/o SP1, server 2008 32-bit, and server 2003 32-bit/64-bit on my X61, X300, and former T61p and all three have had working wifi indicators regardless of intel- or atheros-based chipsets or the OS installed. currently my X300 is running server 2008 enterprise 32-bit and the wifi indicator works perfectly with it, too.
wish i knew what
you have different.

Did you guys install some extra applications to get the indicator working under Vista X64?
I used the system update application to do the clean installation, everything works, but the wifi indicator won't turn on. (wifi is working).

nothing fancy here... clean installation of VU64 -> apply SP1 -> run TVSU -> sit back and enjoy. my X61 is a 7675-59U with intel ABG card. i've also used the intel ABGN and atheros a/b/g cards on various machines under vista 64, all with success.
i'm absolutely baffled as to why yours isn't working as advertised. that's weird.
do you have the lenovo hotkey features package installed? if so, does wifi show up on the list when pressing Fn+F5?

Yes, it does show up, but the light doesn't turn on.
