X61T SXGA+ - Why isnt this screen any brighter?!

#1 Post by snots » Fri May 09, 2008 9:47 pm

Hi, I did a search but nothing relevant came up.

Anyways, I am loving the tablet experience but there is one big problem -- when I lay the tablet flat on the table and write on it like a regular notebook, the screen brightness is just too low (even at max). I am looking at the solid white background in OneNote.

When I place a real piece of paper besides the screen, the paper looks about 100X brighter than the screen. Given that the angle I'm staring at the tablet while it is flat on the table is alot less direct than in laptop mode, the actual screen brightness I see is even lower than what you see at max in the laptop mode..!

I think one of the biggest hurdles to inking on the tablet compared to writing in real life is this disparity between brightnesses -- is there any way at all to increase brightness?

Thanks!

In the BIOS, there will be a setting where you can set the backlight onto full power, even when in battery mode. That's probably about the best you will be able to do..
