Hello,

I own an X61s and the bluetooth led already went dead twice. First time, it lead to a replacement of many parts with a lot of $$$.
I just died again a few days ago.

Led's gone but BT still functional.

Not sure what it is really... maybe that flimsy wire from the main body to the screen...

Gotta ask the obvious. When you installed the BT driver, did you follow the install procedure (on the Lenovo BT download page) word for word to include selecting the driver that is not digitally signed. This is an important note in this procedure.

The Control Panel BT icon only means Windows detected the card and installed it's own driver. It doesn't mean the correct driver is present.

You have to turn on the BT module.

Some models have a push button such as A31p. Some models use Hot Key sequence Fn+F5 menu to turn it on. In the absence of that, use AC under the Tools drop down menu.

Yes. In my case, all these procedures were followed.
As I mentioned, my device has lost its led for the second time. First time around it cost Lenovo over 2000 Dollars in spare parts to repair.
As far as the/my X61s goes, it's plain flawed in its design.

For the X6x, the BT board and antenna is in the lower LCD cover (left side). Since the LED is to the right, it could be the inverter board it is mounted on, the cable, or a transistor on the MB.

I lost a Stdby LED on a machine and it was on the MB since I changed everything else. Since it was out of warranty and not too much of an inconvenience, I just let it go.
