Hi,

i have a new problem with my X60, wich by the way is still the best notebook i ever owned..

I is really getting hotter and hotter since a couple weeks, it is now, that the notebook goes to standby rally quick whenever i do some more CPU Powering work. The CPU Fan still works fine, i can hear it, but it seems that it cant handle the heat. are there more fans in the notebook ?

what should i do ? i dont really want to send it to IBM and wait 2 weeks.... any other suggestions ?

btw. the temperature (measured by nhc) is about 82°C

check the settings in your powermanager, before go and set all bios defaults!

if that doesnt change a thing, perform a fresh install of your os, preferably without the ibm bloatware! ( ideally do this on a second hdd, in case you have one, in order to see the diffs)

if thats not curing it up, SEND IT IN!!-82 degrees with it shutting off is no good
p.s.: i presume its a softwareissue, possibly a virus or alike

thx for the info.

I can rule out that it is a Virus. i looked at all running processes and services, i shut down all unnessesary ones.

maybe there is dirt in the fan, or dust is in the notebook so that the air circulation is not as good as it used to be.

hmm lookes like im gonna send it in

I would take out the fan ,and check if there is a transparent sticker on the thermal paste, it can cause overheat if it is not taken off. I had this issure on my T60 after I got the laptop from IBM deposit service center( Fan didnt work , so it got replaced).
