X60 won't turn on

I bought an as-is X60 on ebay recently, and I can't get it to turn on with the battery or AC power. I've tried removing the CMOS battery and reinstalling it and removing the RAM and HD, and it still won't power on.

When it's plugged into the AC adapter and I press the power button, the power light turns on and the caps and num lock LEDs light up for about a second and the fan spins for about 2 seconds and that's it. There are no beeps, no POST, no other response from the laptop.

Is there any hope that this is fixable, or does this mean that the motherboard is shot? Any tips or input are appreciated. Thanks.

I hate to say it but I think you have done all that you could.

It appears to be the motherboard.

Try to install another set of memory before you confirm if its the motherboard. Also try to hold the power button for a minute to dischage the capacitors. it happen to me once.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I got your PM, and I'm going to see what my options are before I decide.

I did try the power button holding, but with no success. I can try another memory stick, but it should give a POST beep code if no RAM is installed, no?

the mobo is dead, i had this situation on my X61 tablet coz I failed to update the BIOS... U need a new mobo, or find someone who knows how to take off the bios, and write new data into it.
