On Macbooks you can do two finger scrolling to move pages up and down, in Windows XP with Safari and Firefox something happens sometimes and I can scroll pages by only using the red mouse ball (no buttons involved) for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is and how and when the feature invokes by itself as far as I can tell.

Can someone tell me the difference between autoscrolling and smooth scrolling features in Firefox and Safari and how X60s mouse buttons work with them?

No one knows? imagine the countless possibilities of decreasing your workload by scrolling internet by only using the mouse ball, this option is there but I don't know how to control it.

Do this:

Go to Device Manager in Windows and open Mouse settings then select "Trackpoint", go into the Settings tab for "Scrolling" and choose "Smooth" in the "Scrolling Type" option, click OK and then Apply.

You would now be able to use the middle mouse button as a scrolling wheel in browsers.

No the option I am trying to describe is different, with red mouse button you can scroll without using rest of the buttons.
