Upgraded Battery and Sleeve for X61s?

#1 Post by picklehead » Wed Jul 09, 2008 3:30 pm

Hey Experts,

I just received my new X61s. Do you guys have any suggestions as to a better battery or a protective sleeve that I should purchase? I'd like to carry the laptop back and forth to class in my messenger bag with my books, and I'd prefer not to have to carry an additional laptop bag.

I'm not sure which battery came with the computer. I can only seem to find two numbers that may help the savvy identify it:

FRU P/N 42T5247
ASM P/N 92P1164

Thanks so much for any advice!

I have found that the Mac Air sleeves fit OK. I have one from Belkin. It is a tight fit with the 8-cell - but fine with the 4.

According to this parts list it is a 4 cell battery.

.. where to get ThinkPad sleeves!

#5 Post by Johan » Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:24 am

In reply to your question about a sleeve, see the thread FS: Thinkpad sleeve for 15'' and 14'' T60 and T4x - the post of Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:54 pm - pointing to the eBay shop wlanservice. I've recently bought a couple of their sleeves (for 15" T42/p's), and they are identical to those sold by riwerwater in the thread mentioned. Fast shipment, freindly seller, fair price!

Zero shock III sleeve

#6 Post by madonesl » Sun Jul 13, 2008 3:39 am

I just picked up one of these Zero shock III sleeves and they're awesome. Memory foam padded insides with padding against zipper scratches. Their website claims your laptop could take a bowling ball dropped from 3 feet or so but I wouldn't try it. However, built quality is excellent and the fit actually suspends my x60s within the bag with an inch or so around. Their website carries them for a bit more due to customs and shipping from Japan but there's a reseller on Ebay fom TExas I picked mine up from for around 35 bucks.
