USB issues on docking station after service. Help

#1 Post by dgriss1 » Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:15 am

Hello Folks,

Just hot my X61 tablet back form lenovo service for some structural issues including the tabs that hold the battery on.
The piece of paper the service people included said that they also updated the bios.

Now, when I put my computer into the docking station, none of the usb ports work. I cannot access my external HD or wireless mouse. The cd/dvd and power still work fine with the computer through the dock.

Any ideas?

thanks
dave

If you have a very old docking station you may have to exchange it. I had a similar issue two years back with an X60s: DVD worked, but not the USB devices. Another symptom was that the red "do not undock" light next to the release latch didn't switch on.

It turned out that there were numerous "engineering changes" done to the ultrabay X6, which corrected (amongst other things) the USB problem.

In my case, the issue was triggered by a motherboard exchange of the X60s.

Regards, Martin

The issue I observed is described here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64923
But it is a longshot anyway: You don't even have the same docking station...
The only other idea I have is to check the device manager in windows and see whether a device shows non-functioning and why.
