Just bought a used X61s... a few questions

Hey everyone!

I just got an X61s for a really good price, but I have a few questions...

Is there an easy way to tell if I have the ultralight screen? The screen is brigher than the one in my X60, but I want to know for sure. It does have 15 different brightness levels. The model is 7667-3FU.

Is there a way to retrofit a fingerprint reader in? I have one in my X60 and in my T43 and I like them though I don't really need them. But it'd be nice to retrofit in.

So now I'm probably selling the X60. Any reason why I should sell the X61s instead???

Thanks!
Rob

It looks like you don't. Nice machine anyway, though.

Some people complain about the Ultralight screen, others love it. As long as you're happy with it.

Thanks for the info as always but how can you tell from that, if it has the ultralight screen? Where do you input the s/n. I'm looking to buy a x61s right now and am looking at a couple of computers.

Sorry, looks like I wasn't too clear...two years ago. I was wondering why I didn't remember posting that link just a few weeks ago :?

The Ultralight screen isn't present in the configuration list. Further, you can check the screen FRU list to see what model was configured how with respect to screens:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62914

Under item 3, the actual LCD module, your model (as 7667-3Fx) is listed under the regular, non-TMD (aka non-Ultralight) section. So unless your machine has been upgraded, you've got the regular screen.

EDIT: And now I see I'm talking to someone totally different..Well, you can input a model number at:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... sLookup.vm

If you have the serial, you can plug it into the box. The machine type for an X61s should be 7667.
