Strange beeping this morning

#1 Post by CyberDude » Mon Sep 15, 2008 2:11 am

This morning my X60s just started beeping all of a sudden. The beeps sounded like it was some sort of system warning.

Beep {pause} beep beep beep {pause} beep beep beep {pause} etc until I shut it down.

The X60s was docked in an ultrabase, ambient temperature was ~23C and the laptop didn't feel particularly warm so I don't think it was a over heating issue. I wasn't typing anything at the time so not keyboard related.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? A search didn't really bring up anything.

Thanks for the quick reply. According to that it seems it may be a DIMM or motherboard issue :(

I'll see if it happens again and f so will get it replaced under warranty.

Those are POST beeps, when the computer doesn't boot up. I don't think this is the issue here.

Perhaps the battery is dying, or the AC power is not connected properly. It is supposed to do 3 beeps on low battery.

As far as I know the power was plugged in ok as the power manager gauge was showing the AC plug icon and battery was at 94%.

I'll monitor it and see if it occurs again.
