Further to my problem this morning http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=67375.

Can anyone suggest a utility that can monitor CPU, HDD, motherboard temperatures so I can see if I have any overheating issues.

Do a forum search for Notebook Hardware Control (NHC)

OK, thanks. I've installed NHC but for the ACPI I'm getting a message saying that ACPI is not configured for this system. Does anyone have the ACPI configuration script / file for the X60s?

I've only managed to find one for the T43P.

Also, NHC is not showing a temperature value for my HDD. I have a Hitachi 250GB 5400K HDD (Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00 [232.88GB])

OK, I managed to find a script that now makes the ACPI work in NHC. The HDD temp still isn't showing. I've checked the SMART is enabled on the drive and it is.

What is the max temp that the CPU can go to before there is a problem? My seems to hover around 62C-68C range but has gone to 76C when under load.

That is well within an acceptable range. Over 90*C and you need to start worrying.
