X61T - Fan noise

Hi,
I just got my new X61T (Tablet) - and I'm quite happy with it.
What bothers me is the constant, quite hearable noise generated by the fan.
Very interesting: The fan is only constantly on when the computer is in laptop-mode (keyboard input). If I turn the screen and put it into Tablet-Mode the fan gets IMMEDIATELY slower and less annoying - and even stops often.
Is it possible to get the X61T to do the same in laptop mode?
