Quick question on X61+ultrabase+external display

Hi...

I recently bought a x61+an ultrabase... Well, Today I opened the box containing the ultrabase and noticed that there is no powerbutton on the dock ?! (like the dock for my old T42). Question is then... Is it at all possible to use the x61 in the dock, with the lid closed and an external display ?!, and how does it work exactly ?! (how do you power on/off etc...)...
