x60 battery charger a/c adapter

#1 Post by kimo » Sat Oct 25, 2008 7:16 pm

my a/c adapter block has always turned very hot when charging my x60.

today, it singed my couch. i am now reading the label on the block and it states 65W 20V. The wire that plugs into the block and the outlet states 3A 125V. Can someone confirm if this is right?

On another note, my laptop shuts down due to low battery power, yet the battery meter states around 36 mins remaining. The battery condition is stated good.

i think in the power settings, the option is set to shut down machine upon reaching to a certain %..in ur case last 36 mins..
on the desktop, right click and goto properties..goto the screensaver tab and click on power settings..over there in the battery settings check the profile that is enabled and the settings under it...

somewhere over there you will find an answer i guess with regards to the sudden shutdown of ur lapop at a certain instant of time..
do check that and let me know what did u find ova there///

i m not much familiar with the electric stuff..btw is it the same at other places like ur office or a nearby coffee shop..do check one too..so that we will know whether the problem is with the charger and not the main supply at ur palce!!! :)

1. If your ac adapter singed your couch, stop using it immediately. It is a safety hazard and you should replace it.

2. All the numbers you give are correct (although you missed out some details).
