X61 used with external monitor

Hello, I have a x61 and was wondering if I can use a 28" monitor? The monitor supports 1920 x 1200, will the X61 display this correctly? I plan to use the monitor to view my DVD's or if you can recommend a setup for me I would appreciate it. Thanks
