Will T61 Recovery discs work on an X61?

Before you flame me, I've searched the forums, but didn't find anything definitive. Some people said it worked, some people were iffy. Here goes:
I have some Windows XP T61 recovery CDs and an X61 that needs a new install. Will it work seamlessly, or are there drivers I will need to install later? Are there any problems at all with doing this?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Its hard to guess without comparing the components (specifically video, wireless, modem, chipset and etc) of the two systems. Theoretically, you can use the T61 R&R disks to install the base OS. Let the R&R process finish and at the end you may need to install some drivers manually but at least this way you will have a working OS. YMMV

That's about as definitive as you are realistically going to get for Windows XP.
The HAL in XP is not particularly good for cross loading of configurations, so it will depend on how close the X61 configuration you are loading on is to the T61 configurations supported in the HAL for the recovery disk set you have.
The HAL approach in Vista is
MUCH better than XP in handling that sort of thing gracefully.

Thanks syedj and Bill; I really appreciate the info!
The hardware is almost identical, so I'll give it a shot.
