Poor quality wireless connection with Intel 3945ABG [Golan]

Hi. I'm having poor wireless connections in my Thinkpad X60s with Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid. I copy some info, in case you are able to help. Thanks,

hey..i had a similar problem on my frnds dell laptop with that card
it got solved with the help of the following:

Not getting any younger thinkpads:

Thanks for your reply. I had already installed the backports, yet the signal remains weak. Remarkably weak when compared to what other laptops (windows) are able to get in my office. I also suspect mine cannot see hidden networks. Any help? Thanks
