X61 Thinkpad Tablet totaly nackered ! HELP

Ok guys, i hope you can help me on this one !

I was installing Vista SP1 and it was SO slow but i waited and eventually it got to a shutting down screen and nothing was really happening the laptop wasn't thinking or anything so i waited a good 15 mins and in the end pulled the plug on it ! now it crashes on boot saying mising files !

i have
a vista disc
a xp disc
a 4gb usb
and all night

the onboard think vantage recover thing i hit start and it goes...."this feature has been removed" WHAT !!? I have always been happy with IBM thinkpads but this is already doing my nut right in

ok i bought a external slim mini dvd writer thing and wacked the vista disc in and it repaied no problem ... at the expense of £54 though!

i have a few other issues so i will post them seperatly i supose
