Occasional very slow wireless connection, X61T, Vista 32

Sometimes, for no apparent reason, the wireless connection on my X61T drops to 1.0mbps.

Turning wireless radios on and off with the hardware switch sometimes helps, but often that just gets back to 12mbps before dropping down to 1mbps again.

I have the Intel 4965AGN card, and the wireless router is a Linksys WRT54GS. Other systems in the house can get a 54mbps connection pretty much anywhere.

Any suggestions? Is there a better wireless card option? Software/driver fix?

So the problem doesn't sound like from the router? Have you ever try using your wireless somewhere else? if so would it work fine?
I have problem sometime myself and try to sort the problem out as well. I would say in general if it's not from the router, which some case need to get firmware update, so please check you have the latest fireware updated. Secondly, check driver of your driver for wireless card. If it's not updated, uninstall and reinstall the update one. Check in configure of wireless whether you set the automatic turn off function to save the energy or not. Uncheck it if it has been checked. That what I can think about now.

Good luck,

Paul

I had exactly the same problem after I installed the latest drivers for the LAN card, although it was the Atheros card and XP, not the Intel card and Vista. But you might try either rolling back the LAN drivers or updating them.
