Hi,
I am new on this forum and I got an error while trying to flash the bios of my X61 - 7675K2U running normally under WinXP SP3.
When the i use the command flash2 /u after rebooting under win98 dos session to flash my BIOS, I obtain the following message:
"Error Code =99 (179)
Updating you BIOS while MS Bitlocker drive encryption is enabled will cause subsequent boots of the encrypted drive to fail"
Has anybody meet this problem and what is/was the work around.
Thanks in advance.

To disable BitLocker Drive Encryption
1. Using an account that has administrative credentials, click Start, click Control Panel, click Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
2. From the BitLocker Drive Encryption page, find the volume on which you want BitLocker Drive Encryption turned off, and click Turn Off BitLocker Drive Encryption.
3. From the What level of decryption do you want dialog box, click Disable BitLocker Drive Encryption.

This seems to be related to Vista SP1, however I am under Win XP pro SP3. That is why I am surprised by the existence of such an error in these conditions.
It is quite bothering as it prevent me to apply Zender patch for eliminating Error 1804 with my MC8775.

"Updating you BIOS while MS Bitlocker drive encryption is enabled will cause subsequent boots of the encrypted drive to fail"
This just may be a warning to Vista users. Can you hit a key to get around it?

Hi Harryc,
unfortunately no.
To apply the patch prepared by Zender (thanks to him b.t.w.), you have to boot under a DOS-session. On X61, it is necessary to boot with a USB key.
Then at the prompt, I enter Flash2 /u and the error message appears and abort the flashing sequence.
I will keep digging the subject but if anybody has an idea, I welcome you all.
Cheers,

i found a way. in vista x64 i went to the bitlocker screen. in the lower left there was a link to go to the TPM config. if you TURN OFF tpm and reboot it will work (using flash2 /u).

i have the same problem on WinXP sp3 but never had Vista installed on my ntb...
Any suggestions? is it that easy just to disable the tpm in BIOS for flashing and afterwards reenabling?
